The ARC Outreach Alliance Programme Symposium
On Wednesday 11th September, the ARC Outreach Alliance programme (AOA) - on which we are the primary long-standing community partner - celebrated the achievements of Phase 1 of the programme. Alex Weston, alongside three Young People’s Advisory Group (YPAG) volunteers, presented our approach to the AOA project, highlighting key progress made during Phase 1 shared the value of the experiences and what it meant to the young people involved. We also had the opportunity to showcase our short film, which captured the impact it has had on young people.
The symposium began with a brief two minute welcome from Azeem Majeed, Director of NIHR ARC Northwest London, followed by an overview of phase one and the achievements of work package one.
Next, we delivered a 20-minute presentation outlining our engagement efforts followed by a panel discussion on the creative process, led by Alex Weston and members of YPAG.
The event continued with a 15 minute discussion on the data project and the risk dashboard development (work package two), followed by a presentation on work package three – all of the presentations can be found here
Finally, the symposium ended with the presentation of awards to the Young People's Advisory Group (YPAG), recognising their vital contributions to the success of the research over the past three years.
During the event, our brilliant friends at New Possibilities created a graphic illustration of the entire day that can be seen above.
“We are pleased with the impact of our work to date and that we have a strong group of young people who feel that they have some agency and influence in what they are doing. We are very much looking forward to building on this and are already working towards that”
